Narrative:

I was cleared to taxi to a runway with no hold short of any other runway. I taxied as requested and held short of the assigned runway on another runway and called tower for takeoff. Tower thought I should have held short of the other runway. I would have done that if I was cleared to the assigned runway and told to hold short of the other runway that was along the taxi route. I have flown out of this airport thousands of times which has poorly designed runway and taxiway patterns and high runway incursion problems. I would suggest that controllers be more precise in their communications. I always taxi with a taxiway chart open at this airport.
