Narrative:

I departed prior to an IFR release being given. The WX was VFR, my copilot took the IFR clearance with some difficulty. Having corrected the situation, I failed to note the hold for release restr and departed. Both pilots should copy the clearance and then compare it to each others. Don't rely on one person to receive the clearance and expect it to be correct. Both pilots should thoroughly understand any additional instructions.

Title: A C401 FLC TAKES OFF FROM A NON TWR ARPT AT VTA, OH, PRIOR TO THE IFR RELEASE TIME AS ASSIGNED BY CLRNC DELIVERY AT CMH, OH.

Narrative: I DEPARTED PRIOR TO AN IFR RELEASE BEING GIVEN. THE WX WAS VFR, MY COPLT TOOK THE IFR CLRNC WITH SOME DIFFICULTY. HAVING CORRECTED THE SIT, I FAILED TO NOTE THE HOLD FOR RELEASE RESTR AND DEPARTED. BOTH PLTS SHOULD COPY THE CLRNC AND THEN COMPARE IT TO EACH OTHERS. DON'T RELY ON ONE PERSON TO RECEIVE THE CLRNC AND EXPECT IT TO BE CORRECT. BOTH PLTS SHOULD THOROUGHLY UNDERSTAND ANY ADDITIONAL INSTRUCTIONS.
