Narrative:

Departing las, the flight plan clearance was the las 1 departure to aaces direct bryce canyon. We could not pull up the clearance on ACARS so we got it verbally. Our understanding was that we were cleared as filed. We both listened to the clearance and the first officer read the clearance back. After takeoff, we were expecting radar vectors. However, when the controller asked us if we had begun our turn, we told him we were expecting radar vectors. He thought we were on the aaces departure -- I think. We thought we were on the las 1 departure. I don't know for sure whether clearance gave us the aaces departure and we read it back wrong, or if they gave us the las 1 by mistake -- or what. I do know that when in las vegas, that the las vegas departure to aaces sounds a lot like aaces departure at las vegas. Perhaps a change in terminology would be appropriate. Perhaps we just need to listen up -- perhaps both. Supplemental information from acn 560963: flight planned for the las vegas 1 departure to aaces. Thought clearance readback via VHF was for the same. On departure control thought we were cleared the aaces 1 departure to aaces. Sounds similar with the point aaces in one clearance and the title aaces in another.

Title: LAS VEGAS TRACON IS SURPRISED THAT AN ACR IS NOT FLYING THE EXPECTED RNAV DEP TO THE AACES INTXN. THE ACR CREW IS EXPECTING THE VECTOR DEP.

Narrative: DEPARTING LAS, THE FLT PLAN CLRNC WAS THE LAS 1 DEP TO AACES DIRECT BRYCE CANYON. WE COULD NOT PULL UP THE CLRNC ON ACARS SO WE GOT IT VERBALLY. OUR UNDERSTANDING WAS THAT WE WERE CLRED AS FILED. WE BOTH LISTENED TO THE CLRNC AND THE FO READ THE CLRNC BACK. AFTER TKOF, WE WERE EXPECTING RADAR VECTORS. HOWEVER, WHEN THE CTLR ASKED US IF WE HAD BEGUN OUR TURN, WE TOLD HIM WE WERE EXPECTING RADAR VECTORS. HE THOUGHT WE WERE ON THE AACES DEP -- I THINK. WE THOUGHT WE WERE ON THE LAS 1 DEP. I DON'T KNOW FOR SURE WHETHER CLRNC GAVE US THE AACES DEP AND WE READ IT BACK WRONG, OR IF THEY GAVE US THE LAS 1 BY MISTAKE -- OR WHAT. I DO KNOW THAT WHEN IN LAS VEGAS, THAT THE LAS VEGAS DEP TO AACES SOUNDS A LOT LIKE AACES DEP AT LAS VEGAS. PERHAPS A CHANGE IN TERMINOLOGY WOULD BE APPROPRIATE. PERHAPS WE JUST NEED TO LISTEN UP -- PERHAPS BOTH. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 560963: FLT PLANNED FOR THE LAS VEGAS 1 DEP TO AACES. THOUGHT CLRNC READBACK VIA VHF WAS FOR THE SAME. ON DEP CTL THOUGHT WE WERE CLRED THE AACES 1 DEP TO AACES. SOUNDS SIMILAR WITH THE POINT AACES IN ONE CLRNC AND THE TITLE AACES IN ANOTHER.
