Narrative:

Taxiing for takeoff. Given instructions to taxi to runway 6. Had just landed and dropped off a passenger. Taxi checklists were being completed. Rain was moving toward the field and was reaching the boundary. I was distraction by the intent to hurry the departure to avoid the worst of the WX moving to the field. I was taxiing to runway 24 in error. The copilot was referencing the v-spds for our departure with head down. As I approached an intersecting runway, my copilot questioned my intentions. I was crossing the hold short line of the crossing runway and stopped my aircraft just prior to actually entering the runway. We advised tower and received clearance to enter the runway to complete a 180 degree turn and re-enter the taxiway to continue to runway 6. I didn't actually get on the runway without the clearance and there was no conflict with other traffic on or near the crossing runway. No excuse! I was attempting to rush and was proceeding thinking I was headed the right way. I didn't bring the taxi diagram out and didn't clarify my intentions with my copilot. I had been to this airport twice so it was not completely unfamiliar. Lessons: don't rush -- I've delayed departure at the runway threshold before, I can do it again. Break out the taxi diagram and plan my route better, confirming the routing with my copilot. Complete most of the taxi checks prior to movement at unfamiliar airports.

Title: MU300 CAPT BECAME DISTR AND TAXIED TO THE WRONG END OF THE ASSIGNED RWY AND OVERSHOT THE HOLD SHORT LINE BEFORE THE COPLT COULD ALERT HIM TO HIS MISTAKE. THERE WAS NO KNOWN TFC CONFLICT.

Narrative: TAXIING FOR TKOF. GIVEN INSTRUCTIONS TO TAXI TO RWY 6. HAD JUST LANDED AND DROPPED OFF A PAX. TAXI CHKLISTS WERE BEING COMPLETED. RAIN WAS MOVING TOWARD THE FIELD AND WAS REACHING THE BOUNDARY. I WAS DISTR BY THE INTENT TO HURRY THE DEP TO AVOID THE WORST OF THE WX MOVING TO THE FIELD. I WAS TAXIING TO RWY 24 IN ERROR. THE COPLT WAS REFING THE V-SPDS FOR OUR DEP WITH HEAD DOWN. AS I APCHED AN INTERSECTING RWY, MY COPLT QUESTIONED MY INTENTIONS. I WAS XING THE HOLD SHORT LINE OF THE XING RWY AND STOPPED MY ACFT JUST PRIOR TO ACTUALLY ENTERING THE RWY. WE ADVISED TWR AND RECEIVED CLRNC TO ENTER THE RWY TO COMPLETE A 180 DEG TURN AND RE-ENTER THE TXWY TO CONTINUE TO RWY 6. I DIDN'T ACTUALLY GET ON THE RWY WITHOUT THE CLRNC AND THERE WAS NO CONFLICT WITH OTHER TFC ON OR NEAR THE XING RWY. NO EXCUSE! I WAS ATTEMPTING TO RUSH AND WAS PROCEEDING THINKING I WAS HEADED THE RIGHT WAY. I DIDN'T BRING THE TAXI DIAGRAM OUT AND DIDN'T CLARIFY MY INTENTIONS WITH MY COPLT. I HAD BEEN TO THIS ARPT TWICE SO IT WAS NOT COMPLETELY UNFAMILIAR. LESSONS: DON'T RUSH -- I'VE DELAYED DEP AT THE RWY THRESHOLD BEFORE, I CAN DO IT AGAIN. BREAK OUT THE TAXI DIAGRAM AND PLAN MY RTE BETTER, CONFIRMING THE ROUTING WITH MY COPLT. COMPLETE MOST OF THE TAXI CHKS PRIOR TO MOVEMENT AT UNFAMILIAR ARPTS.
