Narrative:

Controller gave us several heading changes. When we were on a 090 degree heading, we were told to turn to 180 degree heading without a reason, and in a calm voice. When I questioned controller (we were level at 16000 ft), the controller then gave us a requested 'tight turn to 040 degree heading' and then asked us if we had an aircraft Y flight in sight, and we did. We were then told to keep visual separation with the traffic. Traffic separation with aircraft Y was less than 5 mi and less than 1000 ft until aircraft Y climbed through 17000 ft MSL. The next controller then gave us heading change and began climbing us again. Then we were cleared direct abq and we requested direct to cnx VOR, and were given direct cnx, direct pdk. Prior to reaching corona, we requested the arrival route rqz. Bunni 2 to pdk, which we were given.

Title: TRACON COORD HDOF PLACE ACFT IN CLOSE PROX.

Narrative: CTLR GAVE US SEVERAL HDG CHANGES. WHEN WE WERE ON A 090 DEG HDG, WE WERE TOLD TO TURN TO 180 DEG HDG WITHOUT A REASON, AND IN A CALM VOICE. WHEN I QUESTIONED CTLR (WE WERE LEVEL AT 16000 FT), THE CTLR THEN GAVE US A REQUESTED 'TIGHT TURN TO 040 DEG HDG' AND THEN ASKED US IF WE HAD AN ACFT Y FLT IN SIGHT, AND WE DID. WE WERE THEN TOLD TO KEEP VISUAL SEPARATION WITH THE TFC. TFC SEPARATION WITH ACFT Y WAS LESS THAN 5 MI AND LESS THAN 1000 FT UNTIL ACFT Y CLBED THROUGH 17000 FT MSL. THE NEXT CTLR THEN GAVE US HDG CHANGE AND BEGAN CLBING US AGAIN. THEN WE WERE CLRED DIRECT ABQ AND WE REQUESTED DIRECT TO CNX VOR, AND WERE GIVEN DIRECT CNX, DIRECT PDK. PRIOR TO REACHING CORONA, WE REQUESTED THE ARR RTE RQZ. BUNNI 2 TO PDK, WHICH WE WERE GIVEN.
