Narrative:

At sjc, I was PIC of a learjet 45 flight from sjc to vny. I failed to follow taxi instructions and taxied from ramp following another aircraft onto runway 30R at sjc. Although I did taxi onto runway 30R on my way to runway 30L, runway 30R had been closed for the past yr or more as well as for my previous arrival and departure earlier in that same day. All of the circumstances of my actions could have been avoided by focusing on my taxi instructions and not assuming runway 30R was still closed. My assumption runway 30R being closed was obviously wrong. Another solution is to read back my taxi clearance, which ATC claims I never accomplished, so the ground controller never got a chance to catch my ingrained thought process.
