Narrative:

On jan/sat/02, a missile shot took place near hawaii, coordinated by pmrf barking sands. In support of the missile shot, 3 stationary altitude reservations were requested: kris, kris one, and kris ast area. These altitude reservations, which we controllers are required to keep all aircraft out of, covered a huge area, almost 1/3 of our total airspace. The total briefing the controllers received on this major operation was the attached sheet labeled 'missile launch' and a crayon drawing of the areas of an overhead chart. This is completely inadequate for applying any kind of efficient separation, radar or non radar. We need detailed information on airspace containing hazardous activities in order to perform ATC duties correctly. At one time, we would have received a verbal briefing prior to an operation like this, and detailed charts plus the printed description of the airspace with latitude/longitude points defined would be available at the control position.
