Narrative:

After landing, while taxiing in, and just clearing the runway, I received a light and a ding from the flight attendant that came across as a cabin emergency light. I talked to the flight attendant, while the first officer talked to ATC. They gave us a non normal taxi route from off of that runway. The cabin emergency light startled me, and took most of my attention. While I talked with the flight attendant, ground control gave us our clearance. The first officer did not tell me what the clearance was, and I figured it was the normal route. As I made my turn and started down the taxi route, ATC told us it was the wrong way. We were unable to turn around, so ATC let us continue the normal route. The flight attendant had pushed the wrong button and there was no emergency. Next time that happens, I will stop the plane immediately, and then after all is taken care of, I will ask the first officer or ATC to repeat the clearance.
