Narrative:

I was assigned to remove the replace aircraft X nose gear actuating cylinder on an air carrier Y aircraft. When I and a co-worker inquired if this was ok for air carrier X mechanics to work on air carrier Y aircraft, the crew chief and supervisor said yes, as long as we used air carrier Y maintenance manuals. When the task was accomplished, we asked who will sign the logbook. The crew chief and supervisor told us we could.
