Narrative:

I was flying. Approach control was vectoring us for san localizer approach and was attempting to keep us high and fast. When we requested to slow, he gave us a 'grudge' vector and made several pointed comments which were unprofessional in my opinion as he 'rewarded' other air carrier by putting them first. On his vector we had an RA with VFR traffic and we climbed to avoid traffic. First officer reported twice on frequency that we were climbing in response to RA. We climbed to approximately 5400 ft before descending. ATC was reluctant to acknowledge us. Aircraft TCASII system worked properly.
