Narrative:

While being vectored around phx to the north side. TRACON advised us of traffic 12 O'clock position and 7500 ft. TCASII TA'ed the traffic at 2 mi, showing 500 ft below us. Traffic then began climbing. The first officer disconnected the autoplt and initiated a climb. We crossed over the cessna nose-to-nose and down the left side approximately 100 ft horizontal and 600 ft vertical (TCASII) as we climbed through 8300 ft. 500 ft planned separation between a fast mover such as an airliner and a light aircraft doesn't seem like a great idea.
