Narrative:

I'm a truck driver and was on the road during the terrorist attacks. I knew there was a ban on flight but heard on a.M. Radio that the ban had been lifted. I got home late at night on sep/sat/01 and got up next morning and could hear planes flying. I went to the airport which is 3 miles from my house and got my plane out of hangar and flew out to my farm strip and landed. I then took off and flew back to ZZZ and landed. At that time I took a friend up and as soon as I took off the FBO called me on 122.8 and asked if I knew there was a ban on VFR flight. I said I didn't and landed immediately and put my plane back in hangar. I had my transponder on 1200. It was a clear day and I was not going more than 10 miles from airport and didn't check NOTAMS. I made a mistake and I'm very sorry.
