Narrative:

Cleared for approach to runway 26 at iah, acknowledged approach clearance, but was not cleared to tower frequency. First officer was flying approach. Passing OM I should have contacted tower for clearance to land, but failed to thinking we were already cleared to land. We were in visual conditions on GS and in a stabilized approach for landing, runway 26 in sight. After landing we cleared at the end, realized we were still with approach and contacted tower. They cleared us to taxi and to contact ground. No comment was made by tower, no traffic conflict occurred. It was my fault for not contacting tower even though we had not been instructed to do so. Though not an excuse, contributing factor might be the additional security procedures and threat we are concerned with, and the early hour of our arrival. It has been more difficult to stay focused on the normal operation. My crew and I have discussed this and will ensure we do not make this mistake again.

Title: AFTER LNDG AT IAH A B727-200 CREW FINDS THEY ARE STILL ON APCH CTL FREQ. THE APCH WAS NORMAL, BUT WITH NO HDOF TO TWR. THE DISTR OF SECURITY ISSUES IS CITED AS A CONTRIBUTOR TO THE INCIDENT.

Narrative: CLRED FOR APCH TO RWY 26 AT IAH, ACKNOWLEDGED APCH CLRNC, BUT WAS NOT CLRED TO TWR FREQ. FO WAS FLYING APCH. PASSING OM I SHOULD HAVE CONTACTED TWR FOR CLRNC TO LAND, BUT FAILED TO THINKING WE WERE ALREADY CLRED TO LAND. WE WERE IN VISUAL CONDITIONS ON GS AND IN A STABILIZED APCH FOR LNDG, RWY 26 IN SIGHT. AFTER LNDG WE CLRED AT THE END, REALIZED WE WERE STILL WITH APCH AND CONTACTED TWR. THEY CLRED US TO TAXI AND TO CONTACT GND. NO COMMENT WAS MADE BY TWR, NO TFC CONFLICT OCCURRED. IT WAS MY FAULT FOR NOT CONTACTING TWR EVEN THOUGH WE HAD NOT BEEN INSTRUCTED TO DO SO. THOUGH NOT AN EXCUSE, CONTRIBUTING FACTOR MIGHT BE THE ADDITIONAL SECURITY PROCS AND THREAT WE ARE CONCERNED WITH, AND THE EARLY HR OF OUR ARR. IT HAS BEEN MORE DIFFICULT TO STAY FOCUSED ON THE NORMAL OP. MY CREW AND I HAVE DISCUSSED THIS AND WILL ENSURE WE DO NOT MAKE THIS MISTAKE AGAIN.
