Narrative:

We were on a VFR flight to jackson reynolds airport, and receiving VFR advisories from lansing approach control. When we had the airport in sight, we contacted the tower and were initially advised to expect runway 32. The winds were northwest at about 6 KTS. During the approach we were advised of a cessna 172 flying a practice instrument approach to runway 24. We were approaching the airport from the east. There were several other aircraft inbound talking to the tower controller. We were asked to report on a two mi right base for runway 32. We did report on a two mi right base, but then we noted another aircraft on a final approach for runway 32. We did not think the spacing was comfortable so we broke off our approach to the north, approximately 1/2 mi east of the airport, and began climbing. We passed behind the cessna 172 which had completed its approach to runway 24. The tower controller then asked us to make a right turn and enter a right downwind for runway 32, and cleared us to land. As we taxied in after landing the controller stated that he may have 'messed us up a bit.'

Title: BE35 AND OTHER ACFT HAD LESS THAN LEGAL SPACING IN THE VFR PATTERN IN JXN CLASS D.

Narrative: WE WERE ON A VFR FLT TO JACKSON REYNOLDS ARPT, AND RECEIVING VFR ADVISORIES FROM LANSING APCH CTL. WHEN WE HAD THE ARPT IN SIGHT, WE CONTACTED THE TWR AND WERE INITIALLY ADVISED TO EXPECT RWY 32. THE WINDS WERE NORTHWEST AT ABOUT 6 KTS. DURING THE APCH WE WERE ADVISED OF A CESSNA 172 FLYING A PRACTICE INSTRUMENT APCH TO RWY 24. WE WERE APCHING THE ARPT FROM THE E. THERE WERE SEVERAL OTHER ACFT INBOUND TALKING TO THE TWR CTLR. WE WERE ASKED TO RPT ON A TWO MI RIGHT BASE FOR RWY 32. WE DID RPT ON A TWO MI RIGHT BASE, BUT THEN WE NOTED ANOTHER ACFT ON A FINAL APCH FOR RWY 32. WE DID NOT THINK THE SPACING WAS COMFORTABLE SO WE BROKE OFF OUR APCH TO THE NORTH, APPROX 1/2 MI E OF THE ARPT, AND BEGAN CLIMBING. WE PASSED BEHIND THE CESSNA 172 WHICH HAD COMPLETED ITS APCH TO RWY 24. THE TWR CTLR THEN ASKED US TO MAKE A R TURN AND ENTER A R DOWNWIND FOR RWY 32, AND CLRED US TO LAND. AS WE TAXIED IN AFTER LANDING THE CTLR STATED THAT HE MAY HAVE 'MESSED US UP A BIT.'
