Narrative:

While returning to seg airport, the gear down nose light did not illuminate when gear down was selected. I checked the bulb, it was good. Nose gear looked to be down and locked in the reflection in the spinner. I slowed the aircraft down and cycled the gear several times, still no nose gear light. With the possibility the nose gear wasn't down all the way and locked, I went to mdt to land, longer runway, to land more slowly. Landing okay, gear okay. Mechanic discovered a broken wire in the nose cone. This wire cannot be seen on a preflight. I am not sure what could be done to prevent this from happening to others.
