Narrative:

I live and work in a rural area. I base my helicopter close by, not at an aviation facility, but at a private storage facility. I am not at an airport or heliport. On 9/tue/01, after work, about XA30 I gave each of my children a five min local ride. Total flight time 15 min. I fly after work usually for 30 - 40 mins WX permitting. I did not know the extent of the day's tragedy until I went home. So as a result I was flying in violation of the emergency NOTAM that restricted all part 91 operations. I had no intent to violate any regulations. Due to the day's events it took some time to get through to flight service, but I finally got through and they informed me of the restrs. I did no more flying.
