Narrative:

After landing on runway 19 in akron, we were instructed to turn left on runway 14. With taxiway C closed, I wrongly assumed it was runway 14 that was closed. I then turned onto runway 5 and was facing a C172 in position and ready for takeoff on runway 23. The tower quickly corrected our error and no other problems occurred. I believe my lack of situational awareness was the root of the problem. Better awareness will correct the problem.

Narrative: AFTER LNDG ON RWY 19 IN AKRON, WE WERE INSTRUCTED TO TURN L ON RWY 14. WITH TXWY C CLOSED, I WRONGLY ASSUMED IT WAS RWY 14 THAT WAS CLOSED. I THEN TURNED ONTO RWY 5 AND WAS FACING A C172 IN POS AND READY FOR TKOF ON RWY 23. THE TWR QUICKLY CORRECTED OUR ERROR AND NO OTHER PROBS OCCURRED. I BELIEVE MY LACK OF SITUATIONAL AWARENESS WAS THE ROOT OF THE PROB. BETTER AWARENESS WILL CORRECT THE PROB.
