Narrative:

Last leg after WX divert, returning to iah hub. Visual approach to runway 27 with thunderstorms in the area. First officer (reporter) made the landing in touchdown zone and decelerated to 80 KTS and xferred control to the captain. Runway was wet with no standing water and landing weight was 2000 pounds below maximum landing weight (130000 pounds). Tower instructed us to expedite to the end and exit, 'aircraft on 3/4 NM final.' captain released the brakes and complied. As we made the 90 degree turnoff, the nose wheel lost control and turned 90 degrees to the aircraft and a forward skid followed, accompanied by extreme vibration. The aircraft slid through a row of taxi lights onto the run up pad (no other aircraft present) and control regained after 2-5 seconds. Taxi to the gate was normal and maintenance check revealed no damage to the aircraft. Contributing to the situation: ATC 2.5 NM separation on final. 'Expedite off' issued by the tower with no 'minimum time on runway' request prior to touchdown. High landing weight. Wet runway conditions. High taxi speed exiting runway.

Narrative: LAST LEG AFTER WX DIVERT, RETURNING TO IAH HUB. VISUAL APCH TO RWY 27 WITH TSTMS IN THE AREA. FO (RPTR) MADE THE LNDG IN TOUCHDOWN ZONE AND DECELERATED TO 80 KTS AND XFERRED CTL TO THE CAPT. RWY WAS WET WITH NO STANDING WATER AND LNDG WT WAS 2000 LBS BELOW MAX LNDG WT (130000 LBS). TWR INSTRUCTED US TO EXPEDITE TO THE END AND EXIT, 'ACFT ON 3/4 NM FINAL.' CAPT RELEASED THE BRAKES AND COMPLIED. AS WE MADE THE 90 DEG TURNOFF, THE NOSE WHEEL LOST CTL AND TURNED 90 DEGS TO THE ACFT AND A FORWARD SKID FOLLOWED, ACCOMPANIED BY EXTREME VIBRATION. THE ACFT SLID THROUGH A ROW OF TAXI LIGHTS ONTO THE RUN UP PAD (NO OTHER ACFT PRESENT) AND CTL REGAINED AFTER 2-5 SECONDS. TAXI TO THE GATE WAS NORMAL AND MAINT CHK REVEALED NO DAMAGE TO THE ACFT. CONTRIBUTING TO THE SIT: ATC 2.5 NM SEPARATION ON FINAL. 'EXPEDITE OFF' ISSUED BY THE TWR WITH NO 'MINIMUM TIME ON RWY' REQUEST PRIOR TO TOUCHDOWN. HIGH LNDG WT. WET RWY CONDITIONS. HIGH TAXI SPD EXITING RWY.
