Narrative:

Deviating around thunderstorm, working radar and visually inspecting cloud conditions, failed to level off at FL250 as assigned. Altitude alerter in cockpit alerted us and we leveled at FL253 and returned to FL250. Self imposed heavy workload during leveloff. Should have leveled off and then began turn-back toward assigned route direct aco.
