Narrative:

I was on climb to 1500 ft MSL just after takeoff at ZZZ for a 2 hour island tour. Unicom informed a transitioning helicopter of my departure, then informed me that the helicopter was northeast of the fields transitioning to the northwest. Then the helicopter reported 'chieftain in sight,' and that his intentions were to 'pass over the bay.' I spotted the helicopter about 2.5 mi away and reported him in sight to unicom, when I was .5 mi from the end of the runway climbing through 800 ft MSL. I had broadcasted on unicom frequency before my takeoff roll, that I was making a left downwind departure. I could see that the helicopter and my aircraft were converging and headed for the bay. I started my upwind turn approximately .5 mi early (ie, before the bay) to avoid the helicopter. When I leveled the 30 degree bank turn-out and I was 90 degrees of original heading on my upwind leg, there I saw the helicopter about 100 ft directly above me. I couldn't believe this guy, I'm taking evasive action to miss him and he just keeps coming at me all the time he's saying on frequency, 'do you have me in sight,' while he is coming at me. The helicopter company agreed with me that the helicopter pilot was not on his subscribed route.

Title: AN ISLAND TOUR PA32 PLT TOOK EVASIVE ACTION TO AVOID AN ISLAND TOUR HELI DEPARTING ZZZ, UNITED STATES.

Narrative: I WAS ON CLB TO 1500 FT MSL JUST AFTER TKOF AT ZZZ FOR A 2 HR ISLAND TOUR. UNICOM INFORMED A TRANSITIONING HELI OF MY DEP, THEN INFORMED ME THAT THE HELI WAS NE OF THE FIELDS TRANSITIONING TO THE NW. THEN THE HELI RPTED 'CHIEFTAIN IN SIGHT,' AND THAT HIS INTENTIONS WERE TO 'PASS OVER THE BAY.' I SPOTTED THE HELI ABOUT 2.5 MI AWAY AND RPTED HIM IN SIGHT TO UNICOM, WHEN I WAS .5 MI FROM THE END OF THE RWY CLBING THROUGH 800 FT MSL. I HAD BROADCASTED ON UNICOM FREQ BEFORE MY TKOF ROLL, THAT I WAS MAKING A L DOWNWIND DEP. I COULD SEE THAT THE HELI AND MY ACFT WERE CONVERGING AND HEADED FOR THE BAY. I STARTED MY UPWIND TURN APPROX .5 MI EARLY (IE, BEFORE THE BAY) TO AVOID THE HELI. WHEN I LEVELED THE 30 DEG BANK TURN-OUT AND I WAS 90 DEGS OF ORIGINAL HEADING ON MY UPWIND LEG, THERE I SAW THE HELI ABOUT 100 FT DIRECTLY ABOVE ME. I COULDN'T BELIEVE THIS GUY, I'M TAKING EVASIVE ACTION TO MISS HIM AND HE JUST KEEPS COMING AT ME ALL THE TIME HE'S SAYING ON FREQ, 'DO YOU HAVE ME IN SIGHT,' WHILE HE IS COMING AT ME. THE HELI COMPANY AGREED WITH ME THAT THE HELI PLT WAS NOT ON HIS SUBSCRIBED RTE.
