Narrative:

Near midair collision. On approach to ewr, on a radar vector heading of 110 degrees, we got a TCASII alert for a non altitude reporting aircraft at our 12 O'clock position. The first officer saw the aircraft, a cessna single engine level at 6000 ft. The first officer banked right and we missed the aircraft by 300 ft or so. The cessna was level and heading north. He gave no indication that he saw us. We returned to the vector heading and advised ATC.
