Narrative:

On the walkaround in ord, I found one of the static ports blocked/clogged up. I called maintenance and they tried to talk me out of it on the radio. We finally had to be very clear about the fact that we wanted someone to come out and look at the airplane. When the mechanic came out he said that it was just water and was fine. I asked him to clear out the water. I watched him try to blow it out and could not. He finally had to scrape out some gunk from the holes. We should not have to argue with maintenance on the radio to send someone out nor should we be told it is just water without maintenance checking it -- which is obviously what happened. Most of our mechanics are great -- but I shouldn't have to press the issue twice to get a static port clean.

Title: B757 FLC EXPERIENCED DELAY AND DIFFICULTY IN GETTING MAINT PERSONNEL TO INSPECT A PLUGGED STATIC PORT NOTED DURING PREFLT WALKAROUND INSPECTION.

WE FINALLY HAD TO BE VERY CLR ABOUT THE FACT THAT WE WANTED SOMEONE TO COME OUT AND LOOK AT THE AIRPLANE. WHEN THE MECH CAME OUT HE SAID THAT IT WAS JUST WATER AND WAS FINE. I ASKED HIM TO CLR OUT THE WATER. I WATCHED HIM TRY TO BLOW IT OUT AND COULD NOT. HE FINALLY HAD TO SCRAPE OUT SOME GUNK FROM THE HOLES. WE SHOULD NOT HAVE TO ARGUE WITH MAINT ON THE RADIO TO SEND SOMEONE OUT NOR SHOULD WE BE TOLD IT IS JUST WATER WITHOUT MAINT CHKING IT -- WHICH IS OBVIOUSLY WHAT HAPPENED. MOST OF OUR MECHS ARE GREAT -- BUT I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO PRESS THE ISSUE TWICE TO GET A STATIC PORT CLEAN.
