Narrative:

After takeoff from dca we experienced an RA at approximately 10500 ft. We first noted a TA ahead approximately 15 NM and were looking for this aircraft while climbing to our assigned altitude of 17000 ft. Shortly after, ATC informed us to turn to a heading of 190 degrees. Shortly after beginning the turn we received an RA, which I as the PF, responded to. By following the RA, the conflict was resolved with no major loss of altitude. We leveled at approximately 9500 ft until ATC gave us instructions that we were clear of traffic now and we could continue our climb to 17000 ft. Target passed within 700 ft and 2 NM.
