Narrative:

Aircraft was on an IFR flight plan from oma to pwc. Canceled IFR with field in sight for a VFR visual approach. When landing gear was lowered, we did not get a green light indicating the right main gear was down and locked. We used a cell phone to contact relatives at a nearby lake cabin, after we were unable to contact anyone on the ground at pine river. We did a low altitude fly-by with the gear down. Altitude approximately 300 ft AGL over 10 mi lake. Observers on the ground indicated that all 3 wheels were down. The squat switch on the right main gear had been svced recently, and we strongly suspected the problem was in the switch. We returned to pwc and landed without incident. (The switch came on at touchdown.) I telephoned a briefer at princeton, mn, FSS and informed them of the circumstances regarding the cell phone use and low altitude fly-by.

Title: A C310 PLT, UPON LOWERING THE GEAR, DID NOT RECEIVE A GREEN DOWN AND LOCKED INDICATION FOR THE R MAIN GEAR.

Narrative: ACFT WAS ON AN IFR FLT PLAN FROM OMA TO PWC. CANCELED IFR WITH FIELD IN SIGHT FOR A VFR VISUAL APCH. WHEN LNDG GEAR WAS LOWERED, WE DID NOT GET A GREEN LIGHT INDICATING THE R MAIN GEAR WAS DOWN AND LOCKED. WE USED A CELL PHONE TO CONTACT RELATIVES AT A NEARBY LAKE CABIN, AFTER WE WERE UNABLE TO CONTACT ANYONE ON THE GND AT PINE RIVER. WE DID A LOW ALT FLY-BY WITH THE GEAR DOWN. ALT APPROX 300 FT AGL OVER 10 MI LAKE. OBSERVERS ON THE GND INDICATED THAT ALL 3 WHEELS WERE DOWN. THE SQUAT SWITCH ON THE R MAIN GEAR HAD BEEN SVCED RECENTLY, AND WE STRONGLY SUSPECTED THE PROB WAS IN THE SWITCH. WE RETURNED TO PWC AND LANDED WITHOUT INCIDENT. (THE SWITCH CAME ON AT TOUCHDOWN.) I TELEPHONED A BRIEFER AT PRINCETON, MN, FSS AND INFORMED THEM OF THE CIRCUMSTANCES REGARDING THE CELL PHONE USE AND LOW ALT FLY-BY.
