Narrative:
Cruising at FL240, cleared to cross holey intersection at 11000 ft about 50 NM out. (Plenty of time.) misread DME's on approach plate (actually misadded). Did not make crossing restr. I noted this at same time ATC suggested that we might not make it. Problem caused by poor planning -- did not doublechk figures. We should be constantly rechking progress!

Narrative: CRUISING AT FL240, CLRED TO CROSS HOLEY INTXN AT 11000 FT ABOUT 50 NM OUT. (PLENTY OF TIME.) MISREAD DME'S ON APCH PLATE (ACTUALLY MISADDED). DID NOT MAKE XING RESTR. I NOTED THIS AT SAME TIME ATC SUGGESTED THAT WE MIGHT NOT MAKE IT. PROB CAUSED BY POOR PLANNING -- DID NOT DOUBLECHK FIGURES. WE SHOULD BE CONSTANTLY RECHKING PROGRESS!
