Narrative:

After right engine start, the flight attendant called telling us that they observed sparks and smoke in the aft galley. We advised ground control that we needed to return to gate and then called ZZZ maintenance to advise of problem and request return to gate. Since we could not get a mechanic to wand us in to the gate for an extended period of time, ground controller directed us to move out onto taxiway to hold for a mechanic. After finally getting back to the gate, we were advised by maintenance that a couple of wires/pigtails would have to be changed in the aft galley. With the repairs complete, we departed again. After normal engine start and taxi, we took off. At about 1000 ft, we were called by the flight attendant and advised they were getting sparks and smoke in the aft galley and smoke and a burning rubber smell in the forward galley. We turned off the utility busses to reduce the power to the galleys. We continued climbing, advised ATC of our problem, called dispatch and maintenance to see if we could do something to continue the flight, since we understood the smoke, sparks, and smells had subsided.

Title: A B767 AFTER TKOF AT 1000 FT DIVERTED DUE TO FLT ATTENDANT RPT OF SPARKS AND SMOKE FROM THE PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED AFT GALLEY.

Narrative: AFTER R ENG START, THE FLT ATTENDANT CALLED TELLING US THAT THEY OBSERVED SPARKS AND SMOKE IN THE AFT GALLEY. WE ADVISED GND CTL THAT WE NEEDED TO RETURN TO GATE AND THEN CALLED ZZZ MAINT TO ADVISE OF PROB AND REQUEST RETURN TO GATE. SINCE WE COULD NOT GET A MECH TO WAND US IN TO THE GATE FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME, GND CTLR DIRECTED US TO MOVE OUT ONTO TXWY TO HOLD FOR A MECH. AFTER FINALLY GETTING BACK TO THE GATE, WE WERE ADVISED BY MAINT THAT A COUPLE OF WIRES/PIGTAILS WOULD HAVE TO BE CHANGED IN THE AFT GALLEY. WITH THE REPAIRS COMPLETE, WE DEPARTED AGAIN. AFTER NORMAL ENG START AND TAXI, WE TOOK OFF. AT ABOUT 1000 FT, WE WERE CALLED BY THE FLT ATTENDANT AND ADVISED THEY WERE GETTING SPARKS AND SMOKE IN THE AFT GALLEY AND SMOKE AND A BURNING RUBBER SMELL IN THE FORWARD GALLEY. WE TURNED OFF THE UTILITY BUSSES TO REDUCE THE PWR TO THE GALLEYS. WE CONTINUED CLBING, ADVISED ATC OF OUR PROB, CALLED DISPATCH AND MAINT TO SEE IF WE COULD DO SOMETHING TO CONTINUE THE FLT, SINCE WE UNDERSTOOD THE SMOKE, SPARKS, AND SMELLS HAD SUBSIDED.
