Narrative:

On the korry 2 arrival near apple intersection (which put us over or north of coney island, aimed at lga to land runway 22), the controller gave us a turn to 340 degrees (?) which was a left turn. If we had flown a standard rate turn we would have flown over the world trade center, which I believe has an automatic warning for controllers (if fixed azi mouth and altitude are crossed). We steepened up the turn and reconfirmed that they wanted us up the hudson river as we were already east of the east river. They repeated the clearance and the next controller confirmed a heading that put us just over the west shore of manhattan. Everything after that was normal. I've never been set up for a left turn-in for runway 22 at lga, over brooklyn and then given a 65 degree left turn to join the hudson.

Title: A B737 PIC COMPLAINT OF UNUSUAL TURN AND PROX TO THE TWIN TWRS AT THE WORLD TRADE CENTER AS SET UP BY N90 APCH CTLR FOR APCH TO LGA, NY.

Narrative: ON THE KORRY 2 ARR NEAR APPLE INTXN (WHICH PUT US OVER OR N OF CONEY ISLAND, AIMED AT LGA TO LAND RWY 22), THE CTLR GAVE US A TURN TO 340 DEGS (?) WHICH WAS A L TURN. IF WE HAD FLOWN A STANDARD RATE TURN WE WOULD HAVE FLOWN OVER THE WORLD TRADE CENTER, WHICH I BELIEVE HAS AN AUTO WARNING FOR CTLRS (IF FIXED AZI MOUTH AND ALT ARE CROSSED). WE STEEPENED UP THE TURN AND RECONFIRMED THAT THEY WANTED US UP THE HUDSON RIVER AS WE WERE ALREADY E OF THE EAST RIVER. THEY REPEATED THE CLRNC AND THE NEXT CTLR CONFIRMED A HDG THAT PUT US JUST OVER THE W SHORE OF MANHATTAN. EVERYTHING AFTER THAT WAS NORMAL. I'VE NEVER BEEN SET UP FOR A L TURN-IN FOR RWY 22 AT LGA, OVER BROOKLYN AND THEN GIVEN A 65 DEG L TURN TO JOIN THE HUDSON.
