Narrative:

While flying wbound from mkc, we may have inadvertently entered the class B airspace for mci approach control. We were having trouble getting the GPS set to give us a DME reading from mci. When we thought we were clear of the class B airspace, we started climbing and then realized we made a mistake and immediately descended to a proper altitude. We were not in the class B airspace more than a couple of mins. We were not talking to approach as we were VFR on a proficiency flight.
