Climbing out of providenciales (turks and caicos), ZMA cleared air carrier X to climb to FL180. First officer flying without use of autoplt. Captain missed making 1000 ft below call at 17000 ft while distraction completing climb check. Aural warning as aircraft passed FL182.5. First officer leveled at FL184 before returning to FL180. Aircraft has no aural warning alert prior to reaching altitude, only visual indication.
