Narrative:
ATC cleared us to FL270. Upon reaching FL270, ATC asked our altitude. We said 'FL290.' ATC said he reassigned us to FL260. We said FL270 was our last assigned altitude (which was dialed into our flight director). ATC instructed us to descend to FL260 and we did.

Narrative: ATC CLRED US TO FL270. UPON REACHING FL270, ATC ASKED OUR ALT. WE SAID 'FL290.' ATC SAID HE REASSIGNED US TO FL260. WE SAID FL270 WAS OUR LAST ASSIGNED ALT (WHICH WAS DIALED INTO OUR FLT DIRECTOR). ATC INSTRUCTED US TO DSND TO FL260 AND WE DID.
