Narrative:
On jan/xa/01, I was taking off from garden city, ks regional airport. Garden city has just come under tower control in last few weeks. I received taxi instructions from tower to active runway. I held short of active, waiting for further information. I received no, or, should say, heard any further information. I tried twice to contact ground control. I never heard from them. I proceeded to taxi to takeoff end of active runway, where I was then told by tower, that I had committed a runway incursion. I was then cleared for takeoff, 5 mins later tower radioed me, with a phone number to copy and call when landed. This I did comply with. I simply want to say that, as a commercial pilot, I understand these rules exist for my safety as well as others. As such I accept full responsibility for my actions and will accept any decision the FAA deems proper. I will assure any and all, if, I rent this plane, again, I will have the radios explained and tested.
