Narrative:

Tower cleared us (air carrier X) to cross runway 5L and hold short of runway 5R. First officer of air carrier Y (a B727) was communicating with the tower in spanish and was taxiing into position on runway 5L. We crossed runway 5L in front of the first officer air carrier Y B727 well before it was lined up in position. Tower then informed us that they expected us to cross behind the first officer air carrier Y. If all communications were in english, the situation would have been clear.
