Narrative:

Clearance to taxi to runway 8 via taxiway M received and acknowledged. Ground changed us to tower frequency. Many times I have been cleared to taxi to runway 8 via taxiway left. This routing requires a right turn then a left turn to get to the runway. Clearance via taxiway M is a straight shot onto runway. First officer was looking down to do his duties and I was starting to make turn to the right thinking that I had to then turn left to get onto runway when I realized that I was crossing the hold short line. Nose of aircraft across line when we stopped. No aircraft on final. Tower then gave us clearance to depart. Supplemental information from acn 495994: I was reaching for PA microphone to warn flight attendants for takeoff as captain was initiating a right turn. We both realized at the same time that the nose of the aircraft had crossed the hold short line, at which time the captain abruptly stopped.

Title: B733 CREW TAXIED PAST THE HOLD SHORT LINE TO THEIR TKOF RWY WITHOUT A CLRNC.

Narrative: CLRNC TO TAXI TO RWY 8 VIA TXWY M RECEIVED AND ACKNOWLEDGED. GND CHANGED US TO TWR FREQ. MANY TIMES I HAVE BEEN CLRED TO TAXI TO RWY 8 VIA TXWY L. THIS ROUTING REQUIRES A R TURN THEN A L TURN TO GET TO THE RWY. CLRNC VIA TXWY M IS A STRAIGHT SHOT ONTO RWY. FO WAS LOOKING DOWN TO DO HIS DUTIES AND I WAS STARTING TO MAKE TURN TO THE R THINKING THAT I HAD TO THEN TURN L TO GET ONTO RWY WHEN I REALIZED THAT I WAS XING THE HOLD SHORT LINE. NOSE OF ACFT ACROSS LINE WHEN WE STOPPED. NO ACFT ON FINAL. TWR THEN GAVE US CLRNC TO DEPART. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 495994: I WAS REACHING FOR PA MIKE TO WARN FLT ATTENDANTS FOR TKOF AS CAPT WAS INITIATING A R TURN. WE BOTH REALIZED AT THE SAME TIME THAT THE NOSE OF THE ACFT HAD CROSSED THE HOLD SHORT LINE, AT WHICH TIME THE CAPT ABRUPTLY STOPPED.
