Narrative:

Shortly after takeoff, while still in climb to cruising altitude, smoke and fumes appeared in the cabin. I notified the cockpit, who were unaware of the situation. Upon review of the situation, the captain declared an emergency and we immediately returned to dfw. We were told to prepare the cabin for an emergency evacuate/evacuation. We repositioned passenger in the forward half of the cabin and completed the checklist. Upon descent, smoke and fumes began to dissipate. We landed without incident and taxied to the gate where passenger deplaned at the gate. 2 oxygen masks deployed at row X seat a/B. The crew elected to continue the trip after another aircraft was located.
