Narrative:

After departure, flight attendant reported loud squeal from L2 door. Waited for aircraft to pressurize but squeal got worse. Returned to ZZZ for overweight landing. Weight was 220,500 pounds -- rate of descent at touchdown was 80 FPM, landing normal. When at gate xx after return, spoke with maintenance supervisor and asked what was involved in the overweight inspection. He said he could not tell me because all their manuals were hidden away today due to an FAA audit as they were known to not be current.
