Narrative:

ATC facility: kansas city tower. Location: taxiway B and taxiway B3 at mci. Aircraft left taxiway near intersection of taxiway B and taxiway B3 in mci. The ATIS did not specify that taxiway B was closed, and after landing the tower gave us a generic clearance of taxi to the gate. After exiting the taxiway A4 high speed and turning south onto taxiway B, noticed that we were in a dead end. In attempting a u-turn on taxiway B, the left main gear left the taxiway. There was no damage to the airplane or airport. When the construction list of closed txwys is so large that it cannot be included in the ATIS, there needs to be specific taxi instructions from the tower or a commercial 10-8 ramp construction page, otherwise it would be easy to fall into this trap.
