Narrative:

During NDB 35 approach into pns, a loss of situational awareness occurred. Thinking we were on the next segment of the approach, the pilots descended to 700 ft. The altitude restr was 1200 ft. The tower called an altitude alert, we climbed and crossed into the next segment of the approach. The rest of the approach and landing were uneventful.

Title: A B727-200 FE RPTED THAT 'THE PLTS' LOST SITUATIONAL AWARENESS AND OVERSHOT THE ALT FOR THE APCH SEGMENT THEY WERE ON AT PNS.

Narrative: DURING NDB 35 APCH INTO PNS, A LOSS OF SITUATIONAL AWARENESS OCCURRED. THINKING WE WERE ON THE NEXT SEGMENT OF THE APCH, THE PLTS DSNDED TO 700 FT. THE ALT RESTR WAS 1200 FT. THE TWR CALLED AN ALT ALERT, WE CLBED AND CROSSED INTO THE NEXT SEGMENT OF THE APCH. THE REST OF THE APCH AND LNDG WERE UNEVENTFUL.
