Narrative:

En route from clt to gso, changed destination to buy. Clt controller was very cooperative. I decided to get clearance after departing VFR from buy and asked gso controller for clearance off burlington to jqf. The controller then began to admonish me for not contacting FSS to get change. I asserted that I was within regulation to ask for change with him. I attempted to get initials of controller and supervisor and was told that they did not give same on air. I initiated changing demeanor of conversation. To me, this is submitted in an effort to seek courtesy and cooperation between ATC and pilots. The controller was not unusually 'busy' and could have accommodated my request had he desired.
