Narrative:

On approach into dab, approach control told us to join left base for runway 7L. We joined left base approximately 6 mi out. Just after passing ormond beach at 2000 ft MSL, we looked back and saw another aircraft in close proximity. The plane was coming towards us from behind and we turned towards the left, to avoid the plane getting closer on our tail. The other plane eventually turned towards the right. Approach control never told us about traffic and to maneuver to avoid traffic on our tail.
