Narrative:
Upon completion of outbound leg of mandatory teardrop procedure turn, a descent was commenced to 2000 ft MSL. Once established on smx localizer, at approximately 9 DME, center controller queried flight's altitude showing '200 ft low.' my first officer and I consulted plate and were both in concurrence that our altitude with respect to DME distance and localizer placement was in accordance with published procedure. We informed controller of our altitude.

Narrative: UPON COMPLETION OF OUTBOUND LEG OF MANDATORY TEARDROP PROC TURN, A DSCNT WAS COMMENCED TO 2000 FT MSL. ONCE ESTABLISHED ON SMX LOC, AT APPROX 9 DME, CTR CTLR QUERIED FLT'S ALT SHOWING '200 FT LOW.' MY FO AND I CONSULTED PLATE AND WERE BOTH IN CONCURRENCE THAT OUR ALT WITH RESPECT TO DME DISTANCE AND LOC PLACEMENT WAS IN ACCORDANCE WITH PUBLISHED PROC. WE INFORMED CTLR OF OUR ALT.
