Narrative:

During takeoff roll at 60 KTS, I got a master caution for EFIS compass monitor. First officer was PNF. We briefed before takeoff that if anything happens before V1 call out malfunction and captain decides to abort or continue. My first officer did not call out malfunction, only said to continue. Due to not knowing what malfunction was, I discontinued takeoff, taxied off runway and directed PNF to contact flight attendant, passenger, and company. He was very unsure what to say or do, so I took over control of radios and running of checklist. He needed to have had more training on what to do in these sits.
