Narrative:

Called ground for taxi. They told me to taxi to runway 18R at M6. I read the clearance back and taxied to runway 18R at M6. Called tower when I was ready. Tower cleared me for takeoff runway 18R at M6. I read the clearance back and took off. I heard nothing more from tower. 2 days later, company called me and said someone had called them and said I took off on a closed runway, but they had reviewed tapes and I was cleared for takeoff on that runway. There were no barricades or flashing lights, and no signs indicating it was closed at that time. I think any one of these things might have stopped this situation from happening.

Title: PLT OF A CARGO C208B TOOK OFF FROM A CLOSED RWY AT MEM.

Narrative: CALLED GND FOR TAXI. THEY TOLD ME TO TAXI TO RWY 18R AT M6. I READ THE CLRNC BACK AND TAXIED TO RWY 18R AT M6. CALLED TWR WHEN I WAS READY. TWR CLRED ME FOR TKOF RWY 18R AT M6. I READ THE CLRNC BACK AND TOOK OFF. I HEARD NOTHING MORE FROM TWR. 2 DAYS LATER, COMPANY CALLED ME AND SAID SOMEONE HAD CALLED THEM AND SAID I TOOK OFF ON A CLOSED RWY, BUT THEY HAD REVIEWED TAPES AND I WAS CLRED FOR TKOF ON THAT RWY. THERE WERE NO BARRICADES OR FLASHING LIGHTS, AND NO SIGNS INDICATING IT WAS CLOSED AT THAT TIME. I THINK ANY ONE OF THESE THINGS MIGHT HAVE STOPPED THIS SIT FROM HAPPENING.
