Narrative:

Noise abatement departure. I was conducting an IOE for a new first officer. We were cleared for the lasun 3U departure out of zrh. I thoroughly briefed the departure with both the first officer and the relief pilot. I told the first officer that per air carrier procedures if the aircraft symbol on the map display is touching the runway then we will engage LNAV at 400 ft afl. This is an RNAV departure. As we took the runway for departure we verified that we were properly aligned. After takeoff and at 400 ft afl we engaged LNAV. We backed up the LNAV with manual VOR off klo so as not to turn too early. At 1000 ft afl we engaged the autoplt and monitored the departure route. Per departure procedures, we maintained takeoff power to 1500 ft afl and flew the departure at 210 KTS. Also we did not derate our climb power because I wanted the best climb rate available in the event of an engine problem. We were heavy. I instructed the first officer to maintain 210 KTS. With the flaps set to 5 degrees, takeoff setting, until established outbound on the klo 255 degree radial. This would allow us the tightest possible turn in LNAV, the best margin above stall and the best possible climb rate under the circumstances. The aircraft followed the departure path and there was no reason to believe a noise violation occurred. Supplemental information from acn 487429: I have just been informed by company safety that on sep/sat/00, that I was the first officer of flight abcd, zur to ZZZ, and zurich is reporting that we did not comply with the published noise abatement procedure for the lasun departure out of zurich. Since this flight was part of my IOE, the captain and I thoroughly briefed the departure procedure until we were sure we were in complete agreement how to execute it. Upon departure I felt that the departure procedure was completed successfully.

Title: B767 CREW WAS ACCUSED OF NOT COMPLYING WITH FOREIGN NOISE ABATEMENT PROCS AT LSZH.

Narrative: NOISE ABATEMENT DEP. I WAS CONDUCTING AN IOE FOR A NEW FO. WE WERE CLRED FOR THE LASUN 3U DEP OUT OF ZRH. I THOROUGHLY BRIEFED THE DEP WITH BOTH THE FO AND THE RELIEF PLT. I TOLD THE FO THAT PER ACR PROCS IF THE ACFT SYMBOL ON THE MAP DISPLAY IS TOUCHING THE RWY THEN WE WILL ENGAGE LNAV AT 400 FT AFL. THIS IS AN RNAV DEP. AS WE TOOK THE RWY FOR DEP WE VERIFIED THAT WE WERE PROPERLY ALIGNED. AFTER TKOF AND AT 400 FT AFL WE ENGAGED LNAV. WE BACKED UP THE LNAV WITH MANUAL VOR OFF KLO SO AS NOT TO TURN TOO EARLY. AT 1000 FT AFL WE ENGAGED THE AUTOPLT AND MONITORED THE DEP RTE. PER DEP PROCS, WE MAINTAINED TKOF PWR TO 1500 FT AFL AND FLEW THE DEP AT 210 KTS. ALSO WE DID NOT DERATE OUR CLB PWR BECAUSE I WANTED THE BEST CLB RATE AVAILABLE IN THE EVENT OF AN ENG PROB. WE WERE HVY. I INSTRUCTED THE FO TO MAINTAIN 210 KTS. WITH THE FLAPS SET TO 5 DEGS, TKOF SETTING, UNTIL ESTABLISHED OUTBOUND ON THE KLO 255 DEG RADIAL. THIS WOULD ALLOW US THE TIGHTEST POSSIBLE TURN IN LNAV, THE BEST MARGIN ABOVE STALL AND THE BEST POSSIBLE CLB RATE UNDER THE CIRCUMSTANCES. THE ACFT FOLLOWED THE DEP PATH AND THERE WAS NO REASON TO BELIEVE A NOISE VIOLATION OCCURRED. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 487429: I HAVE JUST BEEN INFORMED BY COMPANY SAFETY THAT ON SEP/SAT/00, THAT I WAS THE FO OF FLT ABCD, ZUR TO ZZZ, AND ZURICH IS RPTING THAT WE DID NOT COMPLY WITH THE PUBLISHED NOISE ABATEMENT PROC FOR THE LASUN DEP OUT OF ZURICH. SINCE THIS FLT WAS PART OF MY IOE, THE CAPT AND I THOROUGHLY BRIEFED THE DEP PROC UNTIL WE WERE SURE WE WERE IN COMPLETE AGREEMENT HOW TO EXECUTE IT. UPON DEP I FELT THAT THE DEP PROC WAS COMPLETED SUCCESSFULLY.
