Narrative:

Had programmed FMS for hug VOR at 10 DME/7000 ft MSL at FL270. Was told to descend to FL180. Left FL270 for FL180 at 1000 FPM. Was cleared to hnk to be at 17000 ft 10 mi northwest. First officer programmed FMS. About 5 mi before hnk, controller asked if we would make the crossing restr (we were then at FL190-FL200). Soon we were over top of hnk at FL190-FL180. Were instructed to make an immediate turn east. Descended to 16500 ft before recapturing 17200 ft. Analysis: confusion between hancock and hugenot, CRM issues. 1) first officer programmed FMS on captain's side to hug 10 DME at 17000 ft. So descent was begun late to meet crossing restr. Captain did not verify proper input on FMS. 2) first officer was listening to ATIS when controller was asking if we would make crossing restr. Captain was thinking that hnk had been programmed and took a min to identify. 3) altitude select was disengaged to meet crossing restr. 4) altitude select was not confirmed as re-engaged at 17000 ft. 5) ATC alerted us to the problem. 6) each pilot must do inputs on respective FMS and xchk. 7) PF must set altitude select.

Title: A DA20 CPR FLC FAIL TO MAKE THE ASSIGNED ALT XING RESTR OVER HNK VOR WHEN THE FO MISPROGRAMS THE FMS WHILE ON FREQ WITH ZBW.

Narrative: HAD PROGRAMMED FMS FOR HUG VOR AT 10 DME/7000 FT MSL AT FL270. WAS TOLD TO DSND TO FL180. LEFT FL270 FOR FL180 AT 1000 FPM. WAS CLRED TO HNK TO BE AT 17000 FT 10 MI NW. FO PROGRAMMED FMS. ABOUT 5 MI BEFORE HNK, CTLR ASKED IF WE WOULD MAKE THE XING RESTR (WE WERE THEN AT FL190-FL200). SOON WE WERE OVER TOP OF HNK AT FL190-FL180. WERE INSTRUCTED TO MAKE AN IMMEDIATE TURN E. DSNDED TO 16500 FT BEFORE RECAPTURING 17200 FT. ANALYSIS: CONFUSION BTWN HANCOCK AND HUGENOT, CRM ISSUES. 1) FO PROGRAMMED FMS ON CAPT'S SIDE TO HUG 10 DME AT 17000 FT. SO DSCNT WAS BEGUN LATE TO MEET XING RESTR. CAPT DID NOT VERIFY PROPER INPUT ON FMS. 2) FO WAS LISTENING TO ATIS WHEN CTLR WAS ASKING IF WE WOULD MAKE XING RESTR. CAPT WAS THINKING THAT HNK HAD BEEN PROGRAMMED AND TOOK A MIN TO IDENT. 3) ALT SELECT WAS DISENGAGED TO MEET XING RESTR. 4) ALT SELECT WAS NOT CONFIRMED AS RE-ENGAGED AT 17000 FT. 5) ATC ALERTED US TO THE PROB. 6) EACH PLT MUST DO INPUTS ON RESPECTIVE FMS AND XCHK. 7) PF MUST SET ALT SELECT.
