Narrative:

During taxi to runway 28C, ground advised us we must be airborne in 1 min or less or take a delay. They asked if we can take intersection north for takeoff. While I checked weight and balance for numbers, I responded 'yes.' they responded 'take that on the right and switch to tower.' I was running before takeoff checklist quickly and switching to tower while we taxied onto runway 28C. Tower asked us to confirm our position. After thinking about our answer, they cleared us for takeoff. Later conversation confirmed no action to be taken. Factors: in a hurry to take off. Busy with checklist. Early morning operations often have ground and tower same person. Nonstandard clearance terminology.
