Narrative:

Had passed my private pilot chkride earlier that morning. Afterward, I flew to hgr from my home base jyo to tell my CFI the news, as I knew he would be there. We spoke for a while and fueled the aircraft. I prepared to depart, contacted ground and was cleared 'taxi to runway 20 or runway 27.' as I was at an FBO right on the end of runway 20, I replied 'we'll take runway 20, since we're here.' I then proceeded to take off without a clearance. The controller had me change frequencys to tower, then castigated me. My only analysis is that there were 2 factors contributing to this: 1) what I felt was a slightly nonstandard taxi clearance ('runway 20 or runway 27') that perhaps distraction me from my regular process, and 2) my excitement from my earlier chkride perhaps distracting from my concentration. In the future, any taxi clearance other than a plain 'taxi to runway X' will be cause for particular focus and deliberation.

Title: NEW PVT PLT TAKES OFF WITHOUT CLRNC.

Narrative: HAD PASSED MY PVT PLT CHKRIDE EARLIER THAT MORNING. AFTERWARD, I FLEW TO HGR FROM MY HOME BASE JYO TO TELL MY CFI THE NEWS, AS I KNEW HE WOULD BE THERE. WE SPOKE FOR A WHILE AND FUELED THE ACFT. I PREPARED TO DEPART, CONTACTED GND AND WAS CLRED 'TAXI TO RWY 20 OR RWY 27.' AS I WAS AT AN FBO RIGHT ON THE END OF RWY 20, I REPLIED 'WE'LL TAKE RWY 20, SINCE WE'RE HERE.' I THEN PROCEEDED TO TAKE OFF WITHOUT A CLRNC. THE CTLR HAD ME CHANGE FREQS TO TWR, THEN CASTIGATED ME. MY ONLY ANALYSIS IS THAT THERE WERE 2 FACTORS CONTRIBUTING TO THIS: 1) WHAT I FELT WAS A SLIGHTLY NONSTANDARD TAXI CLRNC ('RWY 20 OR RWY 27') THAT PERHAPS DISTR ME FROM MY REGULAR PROCESS, AND 2) MY EXCITEMENT FROM MY EARLIER CHKRIDE PERHAPS DISTRACTING FROM MY CONCENTRATION. IN THE FUTURE, ANY TAXI CLRNC OTHER THAN A PLAIN 'TAXI TO RWY X' WILL BE CAUSE FOR PARTICULAR FOCUS AND DELIBERATION.
