Narrative:

During climb out of seattle, we were flight planned at FL290. We checked our FMC to see if we could climb to FL330 and it said we could. I requested it on 126.6 and we were cleared to FL330. During the climb, I asked center how the rides were at FL330 before I turned the seatbelt sign off and he said he had no complaints. Several mins later, center came back and said he remembered us asking about the rides at FL330, but not clearing us for it. Both of us then decided to fill this out even though we both remember being cleared to FL330. As I was talking to the passenger about our flight and turning the seatbelt sign off, center cleared us to FL330. I did not specifically hear center clear us since I was talking to the passenger, but the captain set FL330 in the MCP. Supplemental information from acn 479166: I questioned center if any follow-up ws required. He said no conflicts, so no follow-up required.
