On jun/mon/00, while my shift as a technical specialist, air carrier maintenance control, I received a request for an MEL placard from a mechanic in XXX for the first officer's VOR course selector inoperative. I issued placard wvx. Due to a lack of experience and training on this aircraft, I misidented the appropriate applicable equipment. Aircraft logbook corrections have been initiated.
