Narrative:

At initial contact with MD80, spacing behind a heavy B767 was 4 mi. Traffic was issued to MD80, caution wake turbulence issued, and MD80 was turned to establish separation. Departure control only moderately busy. Incident reported to supervisor who reported it to tower personnel. No explanation received. Suspect tower was in a hurry and disregarded safety for expedience. Normally we see no corrective action in incidents of this type, so submitting the NASA report is the only alternative to remedying the situation.
