Narrative:

Controller used nonstandard terminology 'air carrier X, follow air carrier Y onto the runway, you're going right after him, be ready.' I began to taxi past the hold short line when I realized that he had not cleared air carrier Y for takeoff, so I stopped. After air carrier Y took off (with a clearance issued from tower), I heard tower tell a private jet to 'follow air carrier X onto the runway.' I remained where I was until tower cleared me for takeoff -- somewhat impatient for me not taxiing into position, but I was not going to move any longer without 1 of the 2 standard phrases -- either 'position and hold' or 'cleared for takeoff' and I will not again!

Title: MLG CREW INSISTED THE ATCT LCL CTLR USE THE CORRECT PHRASEOLOGY PRIOR TO TAKING THE ACTIVE RWY.

Narrative: CTLR USED NONSTANDARD TERMINOLOGY 'ACR X, FOLLOW ACR Y ONTO THE RWY, YOU'RE GOING RIGHT AFTER HIM, BE READY.' I BEGAN TO TAXI PAST THE HOLD SHORT LINE WHEN I REALIZED THAT HE HAD NOT CLRED ACR Y FOR TKOF, SO I STOPPED. AFTER ACR Y TOOK OFF (WITH A CLRNC ISSUED FROM TWR), I HEARD TWR TELL A PVT JET TO 'FOLLOW ACR X ONTO THE RWY.' I REMAINED WHERE I WAS UNTIL TWR CLRED ME FOR TKOF -- SOMEWHAT IMPATIENT FOR ME NOT TAXIING INTO POS, BUT I WAS NOT GOING TO MOVE ANY LONGER WITHOUT 1 OF THE 2 STANDARD PHRASES -- EITHER 'POS AND HOLD' OR 'CLRED FOR TKOF' AND I WILL NOT AGAIN!
